The Raid

Originally created in the early 1980s, The Raid captures a raw moment from the underground reality of New York’s graffiti movement. The image draws directly from a night in the subway tunnels — a place where risk, instinct, and creativity existed side by side.

While painting with a small crew, the quiet of the tunnel was suddenly broken by a shout: “Train!”

Instead of stopping, the train barreled forward, horn blaring through the dark corridor. From 103rd Street to 110th Street, the artists ran through the tunnels to reach the next station, racing against the roar of steel and the echo of the horn.

This work stands as both documentation and tribute — a visual memory of the danger, adrenaline, and brotherhood that defined the era. Emerging from the Golden Age of New York graffiti, The Raid reflects the intensity of a time when creating art often meant working in the shadows and moving fast to survive.

This edition translates the original painting into a collectible format while preserving the energy and historical spirit of the moment.
